How tall are the posts?
The kits are sent with 9ft long posts that can be cut down to your preferred height.
What are the materials made of?
The materials are aluminum, which is known for its strength and resistance to rust.
How does it get attached/mounted to my house?
You can mount it to your house wall or to the fascia board on your eave/overhang. If mounting to the house wall, the long screws must fasten into the wall studs. If mounting to the fascia board, the long screws must fasten through to the roof truss ends or rafter tail ends.
How do the posts get mounted?
Posts are anchored to the concrete slab using the heavy-duty bottom post brackets and the concrete wedge anchors provided in the kit. If mounting to a wood deck, the deck subframing at post locations should be beefed up, and lag screws should be used to fasten the heavy-duty bottom post brackets through the deck boards into the subframing. (*Do not attach to deck boards only)
Does the patio cover roof need a pitch to drain water?
Yes, it does. The minimum roof pitch (slant) needed is ½” per foot for the “depth” of the cover. If you bought a 10ft deep cover, then the minimum pitch needed is 5 inches. If you are able to get more pitch, we always suggest doing it.
I do not have a cement slab, can it be built on gravel?
It can be built without a cement slab, but you would need to pour concrete footings at each post location. Then you can anchor the posts to the footing using the heavy-duty bottom post bracket and wedge anchors sent with the kit.
